Project requirements and conditions
Concrete pours had to fit around formwork, reinforcement and other contractors’ work. A supply disruption could affect an entire shift, so the contractor needed an agreed production and delivery rhythm.
The main challenge was large continuous pours, with up to 900 m³ scheduled for a single stage. Deliveries had to reach the site in sequence without extended supply interruptions.
Site access also required planning. Together with the contractor, we agreed the vehicle route, unloading points and a communication process for changes to the schedule.
Our role and solution
C3 was responsible for concrete production, mix design to the supplied technical specification and supply coordination. Structural design and concrete placement remained the responsibility of the contractor and its specialists.
We installed a dedicated mobile batching plant near the construction site. Trial mixes preceded the main works, and the contractor’s technical team helped agree the testing procedure.
Each pour had its own supply plan, covering volume, start time, vehicle sequence and responsible contacts. The plan was adjusted to actual site readiness before production began.
Quality control
Before production, we checked materials, equipment settings and the approved mix version. Batch records linked each delivery to the structure being poured.
Mix properties were checked under the agreed control plan. Sampling and test results were stored with delivery records, and deviations were reviewed with the contractor’s technical team.
One agreed communication channel kept production, transport and site teams working to the same current schedule.
Results
Over four months, we produced and supplied 12,400 m³ of concrete across 18 main pouring stages. The largest stage required 900 m³.
All 18 stages were completed against the delivery schedules agreed and updated with the contractor before work began. Each stage received a set of supply and quality-control records.
Dedicated production made it possible to plan concrete alongside construction: one team coordinated production rhythm, transport and quality control.
