Project requirements and conditions
The foundations occupied separate work areas connected by temporary site roads. The contractor needed concrete production to follow foundation readiness and vehicle movements between work areas.
Each foundation required 600 m³ of concrete. Continuous placement called for consistent deliveries, making access, unloading and return routes part of the supply plan.
Site readiness and weather affected the schedule. Moving one foundation’s pour required the remaining production stages to be coordinated again.
Our role and solution
C3 organised concrete production and supply for all 12 foundations. Together with the contractor, we agreed the specified mix properties, trial mixes and readiness checks before each pour.
Before each stage, we confirmed site readiness, volume, start time and the transport route. Every pour had an agreed vehicle sequence and a named supply coordinator.
The production schedule followed the site’s receiving pace, helping prevent vehicles from queuing at one work area while leaving a gap elsewhere in the delivery sequence.
Quality control
Trial mixes checked the proposed concrete against the supplied project specification and work plan. Approved recipes and changes were recorded in the production system.
Each foundation had a separate set of delivery and quality-control documents linking the production batch, arrival time and test records.
Production and site teams reviewed conditions before each stage. Changes to the schedule or technical requirements were agreed before the next production stage began.
Results
Over three months, we supplied 7,200 m³ of concrete for 12 turbine foundations. Each foundation received 600 m³. Supply was organised into 12 main pouring stages, one per foundation.
Every stage ended with a foundation-specific set of supply and control documents, giving the contractor a single record of that foundation’s concrete works.
The key approach was a repeatable readiness process: work area, mix, transport and responsible people were agreed before every foundation pour.
